A collective of 18 leading LGBTQI+ organisations, including LINC and Gay Project has today (06.11.2024) launched the first ever LGBTQI+ sector wide manifesto ahead of the upcoming Irish general election.

The collective of organisations set out its priorities for the new Government, calling on election candidates to commit to ensuring support for and safety of LGBTQI+ communities in Cork and across Ireland, and not to ‘play politics’ with LGBTQI+ people’s lives.

Speaking today about the launch of the manifesto, Kate Moynihan, Manager at LINC commented:
‘We call on our elected representatives to envision Ireland as the best place in Europe for LGBTQI+ people to live openly and freely. We urge every candidate to commit to the priorities we’ve outlined and take a stand for an inclusive Ireland. Now is a critical moment for LGBTQI+ rights and recent surges in hate and misinformation have only strengthened our resolve to unite, protect, and empower our community. We ask all our families, friends, allies and every voter across the country to stand with the LGBTQI+ community and reflect this commitment in your vote. Together, we can build a safer, more inclusive Ireland for all’.
