LINQ Ireland is recruiting a full-time Outreach Worker.
Role overview:
Develop LINQ’s capacity as a national community organization by assisting in strategic plan delivery and reaching members of the LBQ community in Cork and Munster. This role offers professional growth and flexibility within outreach and organisational expansion.
The Outreach Worker will play a critical role in expanding LINQ Ireland’s presence and impact within rural communities and LBQ communities outside of Cork city. LINQ seeks to provide support to those living outside Cork City and as far as Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, Clare and more where such support is needed. This role is focused on identifying the unique needs of LBQ individuals in these areas, developing and facilitating outreach programmes and events. The ideal candidate will prioritise building trust and relationships within communities, working in partnership with local organisations, community groups and education providers to increase awareness of support and reduce barriers to engagement. Activities will include community-based workshops, information sessions and the development of peer support spaces in safe and accessible environments.
Essential Skills/Competencies:
Understanding of issues facing LBQ people and their families.
A full clean drivers licence
At least 2 years’ community development experience and/or a relevant third-level qualification (e.g., Community Work, Community Development, Youth Work or Social Care).
Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Google software and MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Support LINQ’s mission and vision through project and initiative delivery.
Develop a work plan aligned with the strategic plan.
Assist in delivering LINQ Ireland’s LGBTI+ Diversity Awareness Programme.
Provide confidential advice, signposting and advocacy to Lesbian, Bi, and Queer women on relevant issues affecting them.
Support existing groups within LINQ.
Produce reports and evaluations as required.
Engage in training and upskilling.
Provide one-to-one support for LBQ service users.
Collaborate with local, regional, and national LGBTI+ organizations.
Facilitate and maintain groups, support networks, and information sessions.
Identify opportunities to enhance services, partnerships, and community resources.
Liaise with relevant organizations and agencies.
Work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends.
Collaborate effectively within a small team.
Desirable:
Understanding of the Irish national context (including political and socio-economic) and knowledge of the wider LGBTQ+ sector.
Understanding of wider equity barriers (e.g. sexism, racism, migration status, ableism, socio-economic disparities) in Irish society and intersectionality.
Experience working with small teams and/or grassroots community organisations.
Understanding of the principles of community development and the value of community engagement.
Fundraising experience.
Reporting to: LINQ Ireland Executive Director
Employed by: LINQ Ireland, 11a White St, Cork
Location: Cork, with expectation to travel within Munster, nationally and some opportunities for international travel.

Salary: €33,630 – €36,000 (dependent on experience)
Leave: 23 days, including 2 at Christmas
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term (1 year, with extension depending on funding)
Probation: 6 months
