LINQ Ireland is committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of LBQ women (Trans and Non-Binary inclusive) and addressing the health disparities that exist as a result of being part of a minority community.
For LBQ women (Trans and Non-Binary inclusive), joy and social connections are not just important—they’re essential acts of resilience and survival. Building supportive, affirming relationships within our communities strengthens our sense of safety, belonging, and identity. In a world that often marginalises us, choosing joy and connection is a powerful way to nurture health and affirm our right to thrive.
Below you will find an introduction to our initiatives, supports and resources aimed at improving the quality of life, health and wellbeing of LBQ women (Trans and Non-Binary inclusive) in our community. We run an annual health week every February with workshops and events related to LBQ Health promotion. The week is packed with information as well as boasting fun opportunities for social connection.
QCon
QCon is our National Queer Women’s Sexual Health & Wellbeing Conference. This is taking place this year, 13th and 14th September 2025. It has been a brilliant event, run twice before in 2021 and 2023.
QCon brings together activists, healthcare professionals, researchers, and community members to discuss critical issues around queer sexual health, mental wellness, and inclusive healthcare practices. The conference aims to foster education, advocacy, and connection through workshops, panels, and keynote sessions focused on empowering queer individuals and improving access to affirming care. This event is rooted in queer joy and connection. To hear more about it, please contact info@linqireland.ie.
Our Groups
LINQ Ireland runs a selection of physical groups aimed at keeping you moving and active as well as connected to your community. Physical activity groups have included weekly soccer training with LINQ Ireland Rebels, swimming lessons, virtual walking challenges, boxing, hill-walking and more. Get in touch with info@linqireland.ie to find out what activity-based groups are running and how to get involved.
Mental Health
LINQ Ireland staff offer one to one support in person, on zoom or over the phone for anyone navigating challenges. Our one-to-one support is a great way to become acquainted with the service if you’re new to the community or simply if you would like to chat about other challenges or issues in a more private space. One-to-one sessions can simply be a space to talk, and find out more about LINQ Ireland or to be sign-posted to other relevant resources or services.
Our online peer support holds space for discussions related to coming out and the general challenges that can arise from being part of the LGBTI+ community in a homophobic society. Our subsidised counselling service offers the benefits of accessible and affordable therapy with counsellors who have experience working with LGBTI+ people. 6 subsidised sessions are available for each community member. If you would like to book a one-to-one session, avail of peer support or subsidised counselling, you can get in touch with the LINQ Ireland team at info@linqireland.ie.
Sexual Health
Events and resources relating to sexual health and wellbeing are an important part of LINQ Ireland’s health plan. We have developed Sexual Health & Wellbeing for LBQ Women as well as hosting events throughout the year that address the specific sexual health needs of LBQ women. We have partnered with the National Screening Service on the report LGBTI+ Experiences of Cervical Screening. If you would like to speak to someone about your sexual health or to find out more about what’s available, contact our community health worker at info@linqireland.ie
Menopause
As part of our Sexual Health support, LINQ Ireland hosts an online Menopause Café every three months. To get the link for this meeting, contact info@linqireland.ie
Physical Health
Our physical health programme aims to keep our community active, well and connected. Past and current programmes include soccer, swimming, boxing, walking, couch to 5k, Pilates, and yoga with a blend of online and in person relevant to the particular needs of each group. Many of our courses run for a 6 to 8 weeks, while others run seasonally. While the initial focus of these groups is health and fitness, we also acknowledge and place great emphasis on the social and emotional benefits of inclusion in sport and physical activity. Our physical activity groups are open to community members of all ages and abilities. If you would like to find out more about what’s currently running in LINQ Ireland’s physical health programme, get in touch at info@linqireland.ie
Social And Emotional Well-being
The team here are acutely aware of the exclusion and isolation felt by many people in our community, that is why we make every effort to keep social and emotional wellbeing at the heart of our activities. Building social support outside of your family or community of origin can contribute immensely to happiness, fulfilment and a sense of belonging. We run social events throughout the year as well as monthly and weekly activity groups to keep you connected. LINQ Ireland hosts a monthly book club, weekly drama, seasonal parties and outings, multiple Pride celebrations and our drop-in service which operates four days a week. There are also monthly online options through our peer support programme and other online events throughout the year to help keep you connected.
Workshops
Throughout the year LINQ Ireland hosts numerous workshops and standalone events through our health programme and our community education programme; from sustainability to mindfulness, art and creativity to DIY. Check out the LINQ Ireland newsletter, our social media platforms or get in touch to find out what workshops are planned for the coming months.
In order to facilitate this service, the LINQ Ireland team engages with fundraising opportunities throughout the year. If you, your organisation/business or someone you know is interested in supporting this vital service, we invite you to get in touch via info@linqireland.ie
