Volunteers are the backbone of LINQ Ireland and without their support we would not be the community we are today.

Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our community by giving their time, energy and skills to support others. There are numerous ways you can help volunteer at LINQ Ireland including, but not limited to, helping at drop ins, assisting with a group, volunteering your time at Pride or holding a fundraiser. If you have a particular focus, skill or hobby and want to share that with the community, please let us know as we would love to hear from you.

Volunteers are so important to maintaining our services and bringing life to our community centre.

Testimonials

Why our volunteers choose to spend their time with LINQ Ireland and what our volunteers enjoy about volunteering with us.

“It is so rewarding to welcome new people into the very space that welcomed me.”

Sof

“I think that the core of volunteering at LINQ Ireland is going into it with the idea of working together to build something; whether that means building connections with the broader Cork community at a Pride event or welcoming newcomers during drop-in hours, it always comes back to connecting with people. Personally, I can’t recommend volunteering highly enough as a low-stress way to get involved with the LINQ Ireland community (and have quite a lot of fun in the process).”

Helen

“I got into volunteering because I wanted to find a larger queer community outside of my friend group and it absolutely is that and everyone is so welcoming and it’s such a safe space!”

Nyah

“I love being a volunteer in LINQ Ireland honestly it gives me a space to be part of my community, even though life can get chaotic from time to time. I got involved with volunteering because I also use the services of LINQ Ireland and it’s my way to give back for all the support I have received.”

Steph

“I first entered LINQ Ireland in 2015 where I did volunteer training. I wanted to volunteer to make a difference in my community, gain new experiences, share my skills and abilities and connect with others in my community who share the same interests and values. Also, volunteering is super rewarding as it gave me a chance to give back as LINQ Ireland supported me in coming out. I met new people and it always gives me a great feeling of making a positive impact in someone else’s life.”

Louise

“Coming out and figuring yourself out is scary especially in a world with so much fake news right now. When I came into LINQ Ireland I found people who are like me and I made lifelong friendships and am happier than ever…that’s why I started to volunteer for LINQ Ireland, because I wanted to help people like me become the best version of themselves and support them on their journey even if it’s just a simple thing of making a cup of tea and listening to their stories.”
